I know it's not going to stay, but the high SP payouts have allowed me to have some of the most fun I've ever had in pub matches. It's so much more enjoyable when everyone is bringing their best gear and going all-out. Get a good squad together and every match is like a mini PC.
Obviously, losing 3-5 proto fittings in a match and still gaining 2M isk shouldn't go on, but taking away some of the pressure of losing isk makes the games so much more entertaining. It just further shows that players are getting punished for making an effort, while being rewarded for not playing. When a significant amount of the risk is removed, you see a lot more action. I found myself actually excited that we were winning, rather than being pissed that I was losing loads of ISK in order to do so. It made players focus on winning, rather than giving up in order to protect their wallet.
The change to scanners and cloaks did absolutely NOTHING to help fix scouts, which should have been obvious. You just added more incentive to stack HP, while doing almost nothing to address their lack of reliable checks (and simultaneously taking away EVEN MORE incentive to use Assault/Logi suits). To fix scouts, the Assault suits need to be better. You can only take so much away from the scout suits before they start losing important tools. Instead, make the Assault something to be feared; give it higher reps, more firepower, or more fitting options. Scouts stop being a problem when there is something else that takes the appeal away. In some cases that can be done through a nerf, in this case it should be achieved by increasing the appeal of another option. If assault suits are scary, then scouts will need to hide, and stacking HP will no longer be a good option.
Other things: - Mass driver rounds look awesome - The new maps are excellent, I'm really liking both the new large socket and the 3-point skirm - The cloak "fix" did almost nothing, decloaking into a weapon is still near-instant - The new "moods" look cool, the fog changes the tactical options on some maps, which is a welcome addition - Get working on getting the balance hotfix back online |
